dodo’s storytelling

For our participation in the Serralves em Festa event we wanted to create a new illustration for this ocasion. In order to expand our designs to other media we decided to use a sweatshirt this time.

The idea was to exploit the larger space of this “canvas” as a sweatshirt. The concept of hoggo seemed to us to be the most appropriate for this experience. Due to the style of this illustration it was easy to adapt our creature to different supports and formats.

The creative background

Following a bit of the aesthetics that characterize us, the front illustration is positioned more like a “logo”. The circular shape appears to us more intuitively and centering the viewer”s gaze. Looks like hoggo merged with a sphere that was at first in the original design of the front.

With a simple concept we could present different looks and expressions of the same creature as it take control of everything that resides there.

The rear part appears already with a oportunity for hoggo to occupy more space than the front. The illustration of a dodo appears simply by the fascination of this creature and its physical “disproportionality” that becomes super suggestive to creativity.

Finally adding eyes and the “melting” shape we find the ideal style together with the red color and the black background of the sweatshirt.
